It is my pleasure to be asked to host the Resource Center at the Young Black & ‘N Business Y.E.S. Entrepreneur Fest held on August 24, 2019 2-7pm!

Baseball Hack Day – Participants and Volunteers Needed!

Are you a baseball fanatic or techie looking for an opportunity to demonstrate your skills? Then you are in for a real treat as Baseball Hack Day (BHD) gears up for their 7th year! On Saturday March 9th, creative minds come together and see what cool projects can be created within a limited time.The project could be (but is not limited to) a tool, simple web app, mobile app, website, or data visualization. There is no cost to attend and participate in the event, but there are limited spots available, so we encourage you to book early!

The full-day phenomenon will include breakfast, lunch and a bevy of snacks. We will also end with an award ceremony to present the winning project. Designers, developers, statisticians, marketers, and baseball enthusiasts alike are welcome!

Not sure how to code? Come learn some tips at the event on 2/27 at the Comic-Con Museum! Intuit will host a workshop in partnership with BIT & NSBE Demystifying a Hackathon: A closer look into Open Source.

Enthusiastic Volunteers Needed!

Hands-On Technology Education (HOTE) will have a significant presence at the 2019 Petco Park Science & Engineering Festival (Saturday, 3/2/19) and we are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us interact and demo STEAM education activities to kids ages 7 – 13!

All volunteers participating should be prepared to commit to at least one 2-hour,shift during the event. A Pre-EXPO Staff/Volunteer Training & Mixer will be held on Friday, 3/1/19 from 6:15pm-8:15pm at Dave & Buster’s (Mission Valley). We will go over the EXPO day logistics, demo some of our activities and fellowship with other HOTE staff & volunteers. Appetizers & Refreshments will be served!

By the way, HOTE is HIRING!! This volunteer event is a GREAT opportunity for students or people looking for a summer camp job at Tech Camp. You’ll meet the people hiring you at the event and could set yourself up for summer! Here are the job postings that I would love to hire for:

Robotics STEM Volunteers Needed

We are so excited to be a Creative Mentor for the lilSTAR Winter Robotics Program with Camille Eddy.  @theSTEAMcollab facilitated the collab  between Spurgeon Thomas of lilSTAR and Tom Lupfer of Clarity Design.

The registration is closed for students, but we still need technical volunteers to assist the students with building and designing the robots.  The Robotics Program will take place on the campus of University of San Diego on Saturday, 12/15/18 and mentors are needed any time between 10am-5pm.  If you are interested or know someone who may be, please share and complete the registration at: https://lilstar.org/2018-winter-robotics-program/
