My name is Precious Hubbard and I am the principal at Bell Middle school. I am looking for San Diego community members who would like to motivate and inspire middle school age students with a brief and engaging interaction. If you aren’t comfortable delivering a 45-minute presentation, we can add you to a panel of speakers (2-3). Our students need to see professionals they can relate to and hear stories of resiliency.
Please see an invitation attached to speak to students at Bell Middle school during our speaker’s series. If you are interested, be prepared to commit at least one hour and send a mini bio ahead of time so teachers can sign their classes up to hear you speak. This year has been the most fantastic journey of my life. I now know that I was not made to do anything different than Adorn the already beautiful lives of people. Adorn really comes from my initial vision for the business, Math Tutoring. I never intended to be a teacher, but I wanted to add to the lessons already given. During my initial evaluation as a tutor, I have students bring their books, notes, exams, and homework. From these, I am able to get a better understanding of what their teacher has already taught them and how I can Adorn that instruction. This way, the student understands their current material, and I teach them concepts that will allow them to excel in the classroom.
The biggest lesson: Follow God
Usually, when I introduce my company as “Adorn The World”, I would get the yeah… okay… World? look. Even before I knew how it would happen, I declared that I would impact the world. Through following God’s instructions to tap into the miracles that he has already placed into my life, Adorn The World was sponsored to teach and mentor at an engineering summer camp in The Bahamas! Some of the first year’s major accomplishments are:
I am most excited to announce that days before renewing my first company, Adorn The World, I began my my second company!! Psalm 150 Orchestra was established September 9, 2015! I am really excited about this vision that God has given me to take Adorn Artistry to another level.

March 9 2015 A colleague Kazeem Omidiji and I were the keynote presenters at the San Diego State University National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) meeting. We had an informal presentation on preparation for the annual NSBE Convention in 2 weeks. Our main focus was “What to say at a career fair booth and your 30 second introduction”.
We opened the meeting with having 4 volunteers come into the center of the table arrangement and give us their 30 second introduction with the scene:
You are at the career fair in your business professional attire with your resume and I am a recruiter from your dream company.
Following this, I gave Kazeem my 30 second introduction, and he responded with his.
Then, we had the room give feedback on the good and bad things that they saw while I documented them on a PowerPoint for everyone to see. A shortened list is below:
The remainder of the presentation was spent in a tag team approach touching on the vast settings where you can land an internship or full-time job. It may vary from sitting next to a recruiter on a bus, eating dinner at the next table, or meeting them at a hospitality suite. I told them to always be yourself, but remain professional because there is always a recruiter around.
With help from other professionals in the room, we were able to give a more realistic point of view on the hardships of career fairs. One mentioned that you may not always get an interview or offer at the career fair, but there is always an opportunity to follow up and possibly get in through the back door with LinkedIn, phone, and email.
We ended with reminding them that “You are your own best salesperson” and “Your company wants to find you as much as you want to find them”.
